This week I’m feeling energy of the New Moon start to lift me out of the shadows. The last couple of weeks have been tough for me and for a lot of my friends and clients. The Waning (or diminishing) Moon brought with it a strong vibration of letting go. It was a time of transitions and release ~ which can have some very positive long-term effects, but are a real bitch to deal with when you’re going through them (trust me). The stories I heard spanned from lost websites to lost lovers, and each was a difficult blessing in its own right. This past Waning Moon was a powerful time for releasing negative, limiting beliefs around money, unworthiness and fear. And it lent a great deal of energy to help us recognize and release thoughts and actions that just didn’t make any damn sense anymore (“Hello, why am I still doing this?”). Normally, I love the Waning Moon. For me, it represents a time of rest, reflection and regrouping. In my spiritual business, I’ve learned to harness the ebb and flow of the lunar cycle, setting up my marketing calendar and programs in alignment with the Moon's rhythms, so I usually feel pretty stable. But on a personal note, this Waning Moon did me in. As you may know, my son Tyler graduated from high school last week. And right now he and I are doing the “letting go dance” as he’s enjoying his last summer at home before heading off to college this Fall. Talk about a whirlwind of emotions ~ pride and frustration, joy and fear ~ all held together with a good healthy dose of Mom Worry (the most powerful worry in all the world). Last week I spent a good chunk of time sulking in the shadows of the Waning Moon, feeling sorry for myself and mourning all that I’m letting go of. The truth is, I’m not ready! But are we ever really ready for big, big change? It’s kinda like the Tower card in the Tarot. I feel like I’m standing on top of the tower with lightning flashing all around, illuminating things I hadn’t seen or known before, when suddenly the foundation starts to shake. And you just KNOW everything’s about to change. But with the blessings of the New Moon this week, I’m starting to come out of the shadows to reconnect with the positive aspects of change. It’s as if the light of the growing Moon is expanding my awareness and opening me up to new possibilities. Yes, there will be much I have to let go of, but that’s only part of the story. I mean come on… I’m gonna be an empty nester before the age of 40. And if you think about it, that’s pretty awesome! Just imagine what I’ll be able to accomplish when my son moves out, I convert his bedroom into my new office/exercise room and I start to channel all of my unexpressed material energy into my business and myself. I’m gonna be unstoppable!!! (Now if someone would please remind me of this when I’m huddled on the floor in tears tugging on my son’s pant leg begging him not to leave this Fall, that would be awesome, thanks!). ******************************************************** By the way… If you want to learn more about how the phases of the Moon affect our lives, our businesses and our collective unconscious minds, check out my upcoming complementary training call “Moon Marketing & Money Secrets: How to Reset Your Mythical Money Mindset to Magnetize Your Spiritual Business for Success.” (I can't guarantee it will help you with empty nest syndrome, but it definitely help you market your business with less stress and more confidence so you can concentrate on moving that treadmill upstairs to your new office/exercise room ;). Early to bed, early to rise. Makes a Goddess healthy, wealthy and wise. Since starting my own business I’ve enjoyed the freedom of allowing my body to wake up whenever it wants. No schedules, no alarm clock, no clients until 10 am at the absolute earliest. And, I’ve loved it! But as a result of my relaxed mornings I’ve become quite the night owl… up late working on creative projects for my business and burning the midnight oil night after night, sometimes into the wee-hours of the morning. This worked for me for awhile, but lately I’ve been feeling a little burned out… Like I’m working all the time, like I’m playing catch up to meet deadlines and finish projects. And I realize this is not the energy I want to create I my business or my life. So this week I’ve made the decision to reclaim my mornings by waking up early. I mean really, really early. I mean like 5 am early. Call me crazy, but I actually like it. Sure, the first couple of mornings I rose from bed on sheer will, cursing under my breath as the sound of my alarm clock jarred me out of my restful slumber. I stumbled out of bed in a fog, fumbling to start my morning with a little yoga or strength training (and foregoing my sacred cup of coffee until after the morning workout). Yeah, it was rough. But by the third morning, I was actually starting to enjoy it. Not only am I finally honoring myself by making my workouts a priority (no more making excuses about how “I don’t have time to workout” because my day got too busy!), but by getting my body moving so early I’m able to kick-start my day into action. After my workouts the rest of the day just seems to flow effortlessly. I’m starting work hours earlier than I was before and burning through my daily tasks with a keen and attentive mind. In fact, it amazes me how much a girl can accomplish by noon when she starts working at 7 am. Not only that, but I’m finding that by 4 or 5 o’clock in the afternoon I’m actually in a pretty good position to put down the laptop and enjoy the rest of my life! Wow ~ who knew. Temporary balance attainted! So yes, I’ve given up my alarm clock free mornings and my late night television (I miss you Chelsea Lately), but I’ve gained so much more. I’m enjoying the simplicity of greeting the rising sun with a sun salutation. I’m tapping back in to the endless opportunities of the day ahead. And I’m realigning myself with the magic of the dawn ~ that in-between time that’s neither night nor day, that time when anything seems possible… because it is. So from here on out... Good morning Universe! 3 Things The Flu Taught Me 03/22/2011
#1 ~ Taking care of yourself is not a luxury... It's a necessity. Caring for and nurturing yourself is the very essence of divine feminine energy. It is your birthright and your responsibility to care for yourself with all the love and attention you would used to care for your own child, partner, parent or friend. #2 ~ When you need a break, take a break. Otherwise Lady Universe might just step in and give you one. Trust me, it always seems to be at those moments when you say to yourself, "I wish I could just take a few days off, BUT... (insert your own personal excuse here)," that you find yourself laid up in be with a box of tissues watching reruns of House for 3 days straight. (Trust me ladies, this is the voice of experience speaking.) #3 ~ You are NOT Super Woman (And no one really expects you to be... Except maybe you)! As women, I believe we can do anything... but that doesn't mean we should do everything. When you find yourself in the weeds and you need a little help, call on your spiritual support system ~ your family, your friends, your partner and your soul sisters. Remember, asking for help is not a sign of weakness, it's a sign of wisdom. Only fools and martyrs try to solve all their problems alone. Many blessings my soul sisters! Who Is Your Authentic Self? 01/11/2011
When I started in my spiritual business I tried to approach it in the same way I had approached my corporate career. Every move I made was very deliberate. I weighed the pros and cons and reasoned out every decision carefully, afraid to make a mistake. And guess what happened... Nothing! After a few months of this I realized that if I was going to make my spiritual business work, I was going to have to find a way to blend my practical corporate knowledge with my intuitive feelings and wisdom. In other words, I was going to have to find a way to bring my authentic self into my business. The problem was, I had no idea how to do that. Up until that point I had basically lived a double life, like Superman masquerading as Clark Kent. By day I was a buttoned up professional who negotiated contracts and moved proverbial mountains to make my projects work. And by night I was a tarot reading, pendulum wielding high priestess in all her glory. But until I made the leap into spiritual entrepreneurship those two sides of my personality rarely ever met. And I knew I was going to need both in order to succeed in this uncharted territory. So I began to look around me for role models and mentors. I looked for other successful spiritual entrepreneurs who were doing it right and I allowed myself to become the student. I sat at the feet of talented coaches and mentors like Kendal Summerhawk, Elizabeth Genco-Purvis and Sharon Desjarlais, and I learned. What these women taught me was that business, like life, isn't perfect. You will doubt yourself at times, you will flounder on occasion and you WILL make mistakes. But if you're willing to take that leap of faith to be your authentic self in your spiritual business, if you're willing to go "all in" with abandon and passion, you will find your grace. Personally, I knew I must be doing something right when other spiritual business owners started coming to me asking for advice. I realized that people were reacting to my real self and not to some polished facade, and it felt good on a deep spiritual level. It felt like I was being of authentic service to my community just by being me ~ imperfections and all. So today I ask you two questions... First, who do you look up to as a role model or mentor and what have they taught you? And second, who's looking up to you and what do you have to teach them by being your authentic self? Really look around and consider these questions... The answers might surprise you. Click HERE for your copy! Do you ever find yourself in a rut where you know you’re not really taking very good care of yourself ~ either physically, emotionally or spiritually ~ but you just can’t seem to shake yourself out of it? Well if this has never happened to you, please call me and tell me your secret! For the rest of us, these phases can be disheartening, disenchanting and downright depressing. Like most women, I know what I need and how to take care of myself. I know that my body and spirit feel better when I eat well and walk daily and when I take the time to meditate and pray and laugh with girlfriends. And yet I can so easily talk myself out of all of these things. I can make a million excuses about being too busy or too stressed or too… whatever… to make time to honor myself. So it’s during these times that I turn to my allies in the spirit world, and particularly to my ancient Goddess teachers who help to remind me of my own divinity! When I’m feeling low and I’m not honoring my own inner Goddess (and boy is it easy to do around the holidays with a “to do” list that never seems to end) one of the Goddesses I turn to is my girl Aphrodite! Aphrodite is the Greek Goddess of Love and Beauty and this Goddess is all about extreme self-care. She teaches you how to love and honor yourself, your needs and your dreams without ever sacrificing your femininity. She shows you how to flirt with life and relish in every experience, even things as simple as a hot bath, a good friend or a cold glass of water after a long walk. Aphrodite is one of my all time favorite Goddesses for loving yourself and nurturing your body, mind and soul. And that’s exactly why I’m hosting “Loving Yourself & Nurturing Your Dreams With Aphrodite ~ Greek Goddess of Love & Beauty at the divinely feminine Red Tent this Saturday, Dec. 11th from 1 to 3 pm. I hope you’ll take the time to join your Goddess sisters and me as we wake up our senses and enjoy each other’s company in the presence of Aphrodite. Together we’ll share the myths and legends of the ancient Goddess and discover how her energy can help even today’s busy modern woman (i.e. YOU) acknowledge her dreams and her needs and pursue them without fear or apology! Of course, I’ve got lots of fun little surprises sprinkled through the day. (Who knows, if it’s not too cold outside we may even fire up the footbath at the Tent!) "I’ve also learned that there is a time and place for everything and that there’s no better way to make changes in your life but to move ahead one step at a time. Believe it or not, once I realized I was ready to start making changes, things just started to fall into place. “Since working with the Moon Magic Manifestation System, I’ve been able to accomplish so many things in such a short period of time. I am, little by little, making all the changes in life that I know I want and deserve. "I’m also open for new challenges that I was never ready for before. Southern Comfort... 10/08/2010
![]() Erin & Me (& Baby Thor) Curled up in my flannel sheets at my best friend's cozy Virginia hillside home, I'm reminded what it means to feel truly comfortable. Comfortable in her home, comfortable in her presence, comfortable in my bed, comfortable in my own skin. Erin is one of my oldest friends from my college days. Over the years this amazing woman has helped me raise my son, brave my crappy jobs, grieve my losses and celebrate my successes as few others have. Like any relationship, ours has had its ups and downs. Last year we spent the better part of a month living and traveling side-by-side in Europe. We had an amazing journey together, but at times we grated on each other nerves like an old married couple. We became mirrors to each other during this time. We reflected back the best and sometimes the worst, but always the truth. We saw our shortcomings and our strengths through the eyes of someone we loved and trusted. And we didn't always like what we saw. But we did learn from it. Today, spending time with Erin and her hubby Jason as they're expecting their first baby, I see only beauty and love reflected back at me. We've learned a lot from each other over the years. We've learned to be gentle with each other when one of us is being hard on herself. And to be firm with each other when the other one refuses to see what's right in front of her. We've learned to accept each other WHERE we we are, because we know that WHO we are is far more important. When one of us is having a hard time, the other one never gives up on her. Instead, we hold the space for our friend to step up to be the woman we know she truly IS. We've learned to forgive each other, because neither one of us is perfect and neither of us expects perfection (whew!). And we've learned to be silent together without feeling the least bit uncomfortable or the slightest need to fill the space with mindless chatter. And for all this and so much more... We're better women because we've known each other. Give Yourself A Goddess Makeover 10/01/2010
It's a new month and I'm ready for a new me! September was full of challenges for me... Family situations that rocked my foundational core and, yes, made me stronger (although personally I thought I was plenty strong before!). But October marks a brand new era, and I'm ready to step into it with my full power and potential to rock this month from start to finish! It always amazes me that whatever I'm offering to my private clients, I'm also learning on a deeper and deeper level each time I teach it. And this month, one of the concepts I'm working with my clients on is the idea of a "Goddess Makeover." Just like a traditional makeover, step 1 of the Goddess Makeover is about enhancing what's already working for you. So take a look at your current skills, talents and intuitive gifts and see what you need to do to give them a little va va va voom. Step 2 of the Goddess Makeover is recognizing what's not working for you and taking action to change it. So treat your outdated thoughts, limiting beliefs and self-sabotaging behavior like 80s hair and cut that mess out girl! If you're ready for your Goddess Makeover, let me know... What are you revving up? And what are you cutting out? And how is this more in alignment with your authentic self? Together we can shift our energy from survival to spectacular... all it takes is the touch of a Goddess. Magical Writing Rocks! 08/13/2010
Just finished prepping the Magical Writing Workshop that I'm hosting at Jamar's tomorrow afternoon and I am so excited. I know I probably say this a lot, but this is one of my favorite classes to teach because it gives guests a solid spiritual tool they can use to connect with the energy of their Higher Selves and their Spirit Guides again and again. And that is powerful stuff. Plus, I just LOVE hearing about all the inspiration that folks get during this workshop. It always amazes me and thrills me when I see that light bulb go off for someone when they finally get the message they need and it clicks for them on a deep spiritual level. And my favorite part is a fun little group exercise we do at the end (but I can't give it away now, you'll just have to come to find out for yourself). Hope to see you tomorrow at Jamar's.
